August 2010

TheBridge, Ottumwa, IA.  Marty and Jenny Schmidt.  We are having a huge dream session on August 5th that will include our spiritual leaders, full, and part time staff. I am very excited about this meeting and am praying for unity, joy, and God ideas. Please pray for a house that a member of thebridge is looking to purchase and offer out to a bridge family for low rent.  We have been partnering with a coffee shop that is coming to Ottumwa in August. Pray for thevine!  We are praying over our next Cambodia trip and will be purchasing tickets the second week of August hopefully. Pray for low fares! :)

Crossroads Church, Estherville, IA.  Rev. Jason and Kristen Olson.  Please pray for our church as we continue to work toward putting together a comprehensive small group program.  Please also pray for Pastor Jason and wife as they travel to Ethiopia August 6-14 to pick up two children they are adopting to add to the family of four children.  Please pray for health, safety and a safe return.  In addition please pray for our mission team who were scheduled to travel to Reynosa, Mexico and had to cancel the trip due to the violence.  The team raised over $6,000 doing a variety of fundraisers and were not able to take the trip.  Pray for Rio Bravo Ministries and the orphanages that are affected by this inability for groups to come and bless them.

Bridge of Hope, Waterloo, IA.  Rev. Kevin Van Wyk and Armond Floyd. - Pray for a building.  We like the theatre, but need something for mid-week discipleship.  That's it! Just pray it over and over. Thanks.

Don DeKok, Church Planting Missionary.

á  Please pray for Rev. Barb Huisman who has been hired to help us begin an organic ministry in Ft. Dodge.  Please pay that God will enable Barb to bring together a group of people committed to forwarding this ministry.  Please pray for GodŐs Spirit to be poured out on this new ministry initiative.

á  Please pray for GodŐs leading as to whether we should pursue a new church plant in the Black Hills area.

á  Give God huge thanks for the growing outdoors ministry at First Reformed in Sheldon called ŇCall of the Wild Ministries.Ó  God is reaching people!

Serve Our Youth, Des Moines, IA.  Bernie Van Roekel, Director.  SOYŐs annual fundraising banquet is scheduled for September 30 at the Foxboro Conference Center in Johnston.  We are thankful that Jim Hallihan, the Executive Director of the Iowa Sports Foundation and the Iowa Games, will be our keynote speaker.  Please pray for GodŐs direction and lead as we attempt to secure sponsors to underwrite the cost of this event and that we will receive donated items for our silent auction.  Also, we pray that God will provide table hosts and that they will be able to secure guests to attend our banquet.  Pray for GodŐs favor for a grant proposal that was recently submitted.

Center of Hope, Sioux Falls, SD.  Rev. Fred Wilgenburg, Director.  Thank-you for your prayers! We continue to plan for how to best utilize our space within the upcoming Sioux Falls Ministry Center. We anticipate our move to be around February 2011. We will see many more people and we want to do effective Gospel-outreach ministry there. Please pray for us as we plan for this exciting transition. In about 6 weeks, we will begin school year programs such as Sports Night, a Kids Hangout, and adult Bible studies. Please already be in prayer for good programs and good attendance. We are very excited to have a team to attend THRIVE, an RCA church planting seminar in August. As we have a potential new staff member --- a Native American man from Oklahoma named Brian --- join our team at THRIVE, please pray over the event and the getting-acquainted time with Brian. Please also pray over the potential for a focused Gospel outreach to Native American people in the Sioux Falls area.

Peace Reformed Church, Sioux City, IA.  Rev. Bob and Holli Rook.  Give thanks that we are in the midst of the actual building part of the building program.  May the fact that work is being done get people excited about the possibilities of ministry that are ahead for Peace.  As we prepare for that time pray that we will be led by the creative and powerful hand of God so that we may enter into the work that God is already doing in our community and our world.  Pray also that the building process will go well and that workers will be protected and blessed in their labor.  We will be interviewing some candidates for our Christian Education Director so pray that God will lead that process and bless the work of the one who is hired.  May God stretch us and grow our ministry.

Crossroads Church, Norwalk, IA.  Rev. Glen and Sally Blumer.  Please pray that you help Crossroads as we prepare for our Sports Camp (kind of like VBS) next week.  Pray that children will come to know Jesus through this.

Harbor Church, Prior Lake, MN.  Josh and Nikki Johnson.  Prayers that the Harbor community continues to be energized by God's work.  Prayers that 40 days of community opens up doors for relationships and small group growth.  Prayers that God continues to grow our little family one person at a time.
